Addis Ababa

Shelly Hilvety has been living and working as a missionary with CMFI in Ethiopia for the past 18 years.

She focuses on two primary ministries. First, she works with the urban poor in the slums of Addis Ababa. After years of helping feed, train and develop underprivileged boys and girls, she is now seeing these young people take on the responsibility for doing the same for the next generation. Shelly is also involved in Community Health Evangelism among the urban poor of her neighborhood.

Shelly’s other ministry focus is training church leaders. She does this by teaching leadership courses in a local Bible School. She is also about to begin teaching in the new CMFI Training Center in Burayu, just outside of Addis Ababa, where evangelists, church elders and other lay leaders are taught a variety of courses designed to help them grow and develop their own church communities.
